Brady Nichol Sweeps Diving Events at Cadet Natatorium
Brady Nichol opened his campaign by capturing first place in both men’s diving disciplines at the Academy. He scored 312.20 points to win the 1-meter competition and added a platform victory with 310.00 points, according to goairforcefalcons.com. Making his collegiate debut, Connor Sweeney finished immediately behind Nichol in both events. Sweeney recorded 285.00 points on the 1-meter board and scored 291.95 points on the platform to secure a pair of runner-up finishes.
Head swimming coach Rob Clayton noted the performance of the diving squad following the opening session. “The divers were absolutely sensational at the Academy,” Clayton told goairforcefalcons.com.
Tanner Wilson Dominates the 200 Breaststroke in Fort Collins
Tanner Wilson paced the Falcons in the pool during Friday’s events in Fort Collins. Wilson won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:01.85, finishing nearly five seconds ahead of the rest of the field, according to goairforcefalcons.com. Teammates Brandon Cho and Cole Wilson also placed in the top five, clocking 2:08.07 and 2:08.10 respectively.
“Tanner was outstanding and dominated the 200 breast,” Clayton told goairforcefalcons.com. Wilson added a third-place finish in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:54.31, alongside a leg on the third-place 200 free relay team and the fourth-place 400 medley relay squad.
Jordan Falls and Additional Top-Five Finishes Highlight Opening Day
C3C Jordan Falls contributed crucial points across multiple sprint and relay events. Falls secured second place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.70 seconds and placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle at 46.84 seconds, according to goairforcefalcons.com. Team captain Garrett Kennedy finished third in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:52.78, while Luke Green took fifth in 1:56.42 during his collegiate debut.
The 200 free relay quartet of Joe Christ, Falls, Wilson, and Green combined for a third-place time of 1:23.94. Junior Evan Witte added a fourth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle at 4:42.21 and a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly at 1:55.63. The 400 medley relay team of Matthew Doty, Wilson, Jonas Dark, and Falls finished fourth in 3:21.73.
Competition concludes Saturday, Oct. 3, with swimming events continuing in Fort Collins and diving returning to Cadet Natatorium beginning at 11 a.m. MT, according to goairforcefalcons.com.
