Aipd and troupe resume theater laboratory in Pisa

Aipd and troupe resume theater laboratory in Pisa

October 23, 2026 Emma Walker – News Editor News

The theater laboratory hosted by the “Il nome della compagnia” troupe is set to resume in Pisa, with a free introductory session scheduled for October 29. Held in partnership with the Italian Association of People with Down Syndrome (Aipd), the program utilizes performing arts to foster social inclusion and personal expression. The organizers define the initiative as an opportunity for meeting, expression, and sharing.

Weekly sessions at Auditorium Fibonacci

Beginning in late October, the initiative will transition to a weekly schedule. Participants are invited to attend meetings every Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Auditorium Fibonacci, located at Via San Lorenzo 1 in Pisa. The project emphasizes the creative potential of every participant, regardless of previous artistic experience or acting background. To join the sessions, no specific theatrical skills or acting talents are required; the only prerequisites are curiosity and a desire to participate in a group experience.

Collaborative approach to performance

The workshops are led by director Lamberto Giannini, known for his work on national stage productions such as “Up&Down” and “Din Don Down,” which feature actor Paolo Ruffini and the Mayor Von Frinzius company of Livorno. Giannini is supported by Margherita Furlan and Virginia Mugnaini in facilitating the sessions. The curriculum is designed to provide a supportive environment where individuals can explore their expressive capabilities without the pressure of judgment.

The organizers emphasize that the theater serves as a venue for meeting and sharing experiences, where differences are intended to act as a source of mutual enrichment. Rather than focusing on technical acting skills, the laboratory prioritizes curiosity and the desire for collective engagement. The troupe highlights that to engage in theater, one does not need to be an actor, but simply to have the desire to be present.

Accessibility in community programming

The program remains open to anyone interested in the group experience, reinforcing the goal of creating a space where every person can find room for self-expression. The initial trial on October 29 serves as the formal opening for the workshops.
