AI Startup Instinct Hits $2.5 Billion Valuation Before Product Launch

August 27, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Instinct, an artificial intelligence startup founded in April under the legal name Spear Street Technology, has seen its corporate valuation multiply to US$ 2.500 million within weeks, driven by funding talks with venture capital firms Benchmark and Index Ventures, according to reports from Forbes Argentina. The company, created by former Sierra researcher Noah Shinn, develops a personal AI agent that connects to WhatsApp, Apple’s iMessage, and email accounts. According to corporate records in California, the software is trained to operate phones and computers in the same manner as a human user, handling messaging, web navigation, restaurant reservations, and flight purchases.

### Funding Rounds and Valuation Growth

The startup’s financial backers have driven up its market price through funding stages. Sarah Guo, of Conviction, and Neil Mehta, of Greenoaks, spearheaded an initial financing round that placed Instinct’s valuation above US$ 100 million, based on sources cited by Forbes. In early August, Mamoon Hamid, of Kleiner Perkins, led a US$ 75 million Series A round that pushed the firm’s valuation past US$ 500 million. Benchmark and Index Ventures subsequently opened negotiations to lead a funding round of at least US$ 200 million, setting the company’s projected valuation at US$ 2.500 million. Instinct, Greenoaks, and Conviction did not respond to inquiries prior to publication, while Kleiner Perkins, Benchmark, and Index Ventures declined to provide comments. Sheel Mohnot characterized the software on social media as “OpenClaw for normal people,” referencing an open-source agent that went viral in January before its creator was hired by OpenAI. While OpenClaw required complex configuration and programming skills, Instinct provides a streamlined application interface for general users. Sarah Guo, a member of the Midas List, reported on social media that the tool successfully completed restaurant bookings, marathon registrations, and consumer transactions during testing phases.

### Privacy and Operational Security Questions

Despite the financial backing, the software’s deep integration into personal communications has raised questions regarding privacy and control over user decisions. Because the assistant reads messages, navigates browsers, and executes financial transactions on behalf of the user, doubts have been generated regarding privacy and the control of decisions. Instinct’s personal AI assistant is currently in a testing phase and is available only by invitation.
