Adopt Polenta: Sweet Calico Cat at Besançon SPA (France)
A young tabby cat named Polenta, born June 12, 2025, is awaiting adoption at the SPA de Besançon animal shelter in Deluz, a commune in the Doubs department of France. Shelter staff describe the nearly one-year-old feline as initially shy, but capable of becoming affectionate and close to her future owner as she gains trust.
Polenta has tested positive for the feline calicivirus, a common viral infection in cats. According to the shelter, the virus can cause chronic inflammation of the mouth, respiratory system, and sometimes the eyes. Whereas not fatal, the condition requires ongoing monitoring of her diet, regular hygiene care, and reinforced veterinary check-ups.
The SPA de Besançon is located in the commune of Deluz. Interested adopters can discover more information and arrange a meeting with Polenta by contacting the shelter directly.
Other animals currently seeking homes at shelters in the region include Noisette, available for adoption at the SPA de Pontarlier, and Beorn, who is waiting for a family in Haute-Saône. Coccinelle, another young tabby cat, is similarly available at the SPA de Besançon, and Antoine, a black and white cat, is at the SPA de Pontarlier.
