[CITY, STATE] – June 28, 2025 – The Jewish Family & Children’s Services (JFCS) is launching a vital three-part Addiction and Recovery Summer Series, designed to empower parents, caregivers, and community members with the knowledge and tools to navigate the complexities of addiction and support loved ones. This series addresses a critical need for accessible, up-to-date information in a rapidly evolving landscape.
Why This Matters: Addiction impacts individuals and families across all demographics. Understanding the warning signs, available resources, and effective strategies for support is paramount. July 16: Gambling: The Hidden Risk – Led by Kevin Spading,Associate Professor of Human Services at Metro State University,this session will explore the growing risks associated with online gambling,sports betting,and apps,particularly among teens and young adults. It will cover identifying warning signs and strategies for support.
August 27: Opioid Overdose Response training – Jennifer Fukuda of JFCS will provide crucial training on recognizing and responding to opioid overdoses, including hands-on instruction on administering naloxone – a life-saving medication. This session is open to both adults and teens.
September 10: Raising Awareness, Reducing Harm: Understanding Today’s Drug Trends – Justin McNeal of Begin Anew Recovery will delve into emerging drug trends, helping participants identify commonly used substances and understand their impact. A Q&A session will allow attendees to address specific concerns.
