Timothée Chalamet will not attend the 32nd Actor Awards, formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards, despite being nominated for his performance in “Marty Supreme,” Deadline confirmed Friday. He would have been eligible to become the awards’ first nominee to win in a single category in two consecutive years.
The Actor Awards, presented by SAG-AFTRA, will be held Sunday, March 1, at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles. The ceremony, which will stream live on Netflix, is hosted by Kristen Bell.
The awards show underwent a rebrand this year, changing its name from the Screen Actors Guild Awards to the Actor Awards in an effort to provide “clearer recognition” for audiences, according to SAG-AFTRA. The awards recognize outstanding performances in both film and television, with 15 awards presented in total.
Other film nominees include Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another,” with seven nominations, and Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners,” which is up for five awards. Jessie Buckley too received a nomination for her performance in “Hamnet.”
In television, “The Pitt,” “The White Lotus,” “Adolescence” and “The Studio” are among the top nominees. The late Catherine O’Hara received a nomination for her work on “The Studio.”
The Actor Awards are voted on by SAG-AFTRA’s membership of over 160,000 performers, making it the awards show with the largest voting body. Presenters for this year’s ceremony include Sterling K. Brown, Lisa Kudrow, Chase Infiniti, and Timothee Chalamet.
The show is expected to last approximately two hours.
