Dutch actress Noa Kolsteren has spoken candidly about her journey back to the popular television series GTST (goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden – Good Times, Bad Times), emphasizing a deep sense of belonging and the importance of constructive feedback.
A Surprising Re-Entry
Kolsteren recounted a moment of uncertainty after initially leaving the conservatory. “Sometimes you have to take your word for it,” she reflected. When she contacted the show to inform them of her decision to leave the conservatory, she was met with an unexpected invitation. “They said,’If you ever want to go back, call us.’ You hear that frequently enough, so I didn’t quite believe it. When I called…to my surprise they immediately said: ‘Come back than!'” The actress expressed profound happiness upon being written back into the series, stating, “When I heard I was being written back into the series, I was so happy. I knew: this is where I belong.”
The Value of Honest Critique
Kolsteren values open communication on set, appreciating both positive reinforcement and constructive criticism. She recalled an instance at age sixteen when she returned to filming after the summer break with a hoarse voice. The GTST producer advised her, “You have to watch your voice a bit.”
“I felt bad for a moment, but he was right. You grow from that kind of feedback. You have to stand up sometimes.”
Juggling Passions
Despite her demanding acting schedule, Kolsteren continues to pursue her education – currently undertaking a part-time degree in Social Work - and her musical endeavors. “It takes time, but above all it brings a lot of joy,” she explained. “I feel good about everything I do and I like to invest in it: singing lessons, speech therapy, research… thatS part of it.”
A Dream Reconsidered
Kolsteren previously discussed her experience at the conservatory with RTL Boulevard, revealing that despite it being a long-held ambition – “That had been my childhood dream as I was ten years old” - the habitat ultimately didn’t feel right for her.
