A Mangyan indigenous community organizer detained in Laguna is currently being held at a provincial jail in Mindoro, according to statements issued by the human rights group Karapatan.
The activist was initially apprehended during military and police operations in Laguna province that also resulted in the death of an alleged New People’s Army leader and the arrest of a female rebel officer alongside a Filipino-American companion, according to records from the Philippine News Agency and The Manila Times.
