A680 Closure: Traffic Diversions Near Toulouse Feb 23-25, 2026
The A680 motorway east of Toulouse is fully closed in both directions nightly this week, beginning Monday, February 23rd, 2026, as Vinci Autoroutes undertakes expansion work. The closures, scheduled between 8:00 PM and 7:00 AM each night, will continue through Wednesday, February 25th, 2026, impacting traffic between Gragnague (exit 2) and Verfeil.
Vinci Autoroutes announced the complete closure of the A680 to facilitate widening of the roadway. The project is part of a broader effort to improve infrastructure around Toulouse, including work on the A61, according to the company’s website.
Motorists traveling towards Castres from the A68 are advised to exit at Montastruc (exit 3) and follow detour routes using the RD888 and RD20 to reach Verfeil. Those traveling from Castres towards Toulouse and the A68 will need to access the A68 via the L’Union entrance (exit 1) using the RD112, M112, and M59.
Vinci Autoroutes stated that detour routes will be clearly marked with yellow signage to guide drivers. However, the company cautioned that operations could be postponed due to inclement weather or unforeseen technical issues.
An additional restriction is in place for heavy goods vehicles. An arrêté préfectoral prohibits trucks weighing over 3.5 tonnes from using the A680 in the direction of Castres during the closure period.
The ongoing work on the A680 includes plans for a full conversion to a two-lane-in-each-direction highway and the construction of a new interchange at Verfeil, a project initiated in 2023.
