A legjobb ajánlat: drámák, műkincsek és megható történetek az RTL-en
A 14-year-ancient collector of typewriters and a family hoping to fund a trip to Disneyland were among those featured on the Hungarian television program, A legjobb ajánlat (The Best Offer), hosted by András Sváby. The show, which premiered earlier this year, brings together individuals with unique items and potential buyers, with Sváby acting as both host and investigator into the stories behind the objects.
The young typewriter enthusiast brought a machine manufactured in the 1920s in the United States to the show, hoping to sell it for what experts considered a high price. Despite initial skepticism, the collectors ultimately agreed to purchase the typewriter for 100,000 forints (approximately $260 USD), impressed by the boy’s knowledge and passion. He intends to utilize the money to build a music studio in his family’s garage, aspiring to become a music producer.
A more emotionally charged segment featured Tamás Kiss, a widower raising two sons, who sought to sell a signed Cristiano Ronaldo jersey won by his late wife in a 2020 workplace competition. Kiss’s wife died unexpectedly from a heart attack three years ago, leaving him to care for their two children, aged 10 and 12. The family hoped to use the proceeds to fund a trip to Disneyland. Moved by the story, Pápai Péter, one of the show’s experts, offered to contribute 200,000 forints each, alongside Sváby himself, bringing the total contribution to 1.2 million forints (approximately $3,100 USD) for the family’s trip. Kiss expressed his belief that his wife had intervened to create this possible.
Other items featured on the program included a vintage reticule camera, designed to resemble a woman’s handbag and containing a compact powder and lipstick, which sold for 215,000 forints (approximately $560 USD) to Pápai Péter. A painting by an aspiring artist, Meruza Zsolt, depicting his mother, was purchased for 460,000 forints (approximately $1,200 USD) by Pápai Péter, with Alföldi Róbert also offering Zsolt a place in a free art workshop.
