“Game of Thrones” Returns with “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” Prequel
Fans of Westeros are set to return to the realm with the premiere of “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” on January 18. HBO has released the first trailer for the six-episode, half-hour drama, marking the latest expansion of the “Game of Thrones” universe.
Set a century before the events of the original series, “A knight of the Seven Kingdoms” offers a new perspective on the Targaryen dynasty’s reign and explores a different facet of Westerosi history. Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Tales of Dunk and Egg” novellas, the series follows the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall, a young and courageous knight, and his squire, Egg – secretly Prince Aegon Targaryen. This prequel arrives following the success of “House of the Dragon,” signaling HBO’s continued investment in Martin’s world and offering audiences further opportunities to delve into the rich lore of the Seven Kingdoms.
The series stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall and Dexter sol Ansell as Egg. Supporting cast members include Finn Bennett, Bertie Carvel, Daniel Ings, Tanzyn Crawford, Sam Spruell, Ross Anderson, Edward Ashley, Henry Ashton, Youssef Kerkour, Daniel Monks, Shaun thomas, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Steve Wall and Danny Webb.
George R.R. Martin and Ira Parker (“House of the Dragon”) serve as writers and executive producers. Ryan Condal (“House of the Dragon”), Vince Gerardis, Owen Harris, and Sarah Bradshaw also executive produce. Adina Smith (“Lessons In Chemistry,” “Hanna”) will direct three episodes,with Harris directing the final three.
