US Strikes Iran Nuclear Site: Iran-Israel Conflict Escalates

March 21, 2026 Lucas Fernandez – World Editor World

Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility was struck in a coordinated attack by the United States and Israel on Saturday, according to Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation, as reported by Al Jazeera and multiple other news outlets.

The attack targeted the Natanz enrichment complex, a heavily fortified site central to Iran’s uranium enrichment program, located approximately 220km (135 miles) southeast of Tehran. Tasnim news agency reported that Iranian officials confirmed no radioactive materials were released and there was no danger to the population near the facility.

The Iranian Atomic Energy Organisation described the attack as “criminal” and attributed it to both the United States and Israel, according to Al Jazeera. The organisation’s statement did not detail how the attack was carried out or the types of munitions used.

This is not the first time the Natanz facility has been targeted. It was also attacked during a 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel in June 2025, as noted by Al Jazeera. The Natanz facility is considered a key component of Iran’s nuclear program, alongside facilities in Isfahan, according to reporting from Tehran by Al Jazeera’s Mohamed Vall.

MSN News reported that the Natanz Nuclear Facility is built deep inside mountains, underscoring its importance and the challenges involved in targeting it.

The attack comes amid ongoing tensions in the region, with NDTV reporting that it occurred as the war between Iran, Israel, and the US continues. No radiation leak was reported following the strike, according to Mizan, the official Iranian news agency.
