Chase Jackson Wins World Indoor Shot Put Gold | World Athletics Championships 2024

March 20, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Chase Jackson of the United States secured gold in the women’s shot put at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Kujawy Pomorze, Poland, on Friday, completing the set of world indoor medals.

Jackson, a two-time world champion, was the only competitor to exceed 20 meters, achieving a winning throw of 20.14 meters in the fourth round. This marks her first global indoor title and makes her the second American woman to win the event, following Michelle Carter’s victory in 2016.

Canada’s Sarah Mitton claimed the silver medal with a throw of 19.78 meters, matching her performance in both the fourth and sixth rounds. Mitton had previously won gold medals in 2024 and 2025.

Sweden’s Axelina Johansson earned the bronze medal, setting a new national record of 19.75 meters in the process. This achievement represents Sweden’s first-ever world medal in the women’s throws.
