Leeds United manager Daniel Farke anticipates the return of both James Justin and Joe Rodon to the squad for Tuesday evening’s Premier League fixture against Sunderland at Elland Road, following Saturday’s closely contested 1-0 defeat against Manchester City.
Farke provided an update on the fitness of his players during a pre-match press conference, indicating that defender James Justin sustained an injury requiring stitches during the match against Manchester City. “The only little question mark after the last game was James Justin because there was a straight leg against him,” Farke stated. “He needed to be stitched after the game because he was full of blood. But he is similarly a tough boy. I also hope that he is available for tomorrow.”
Regarding Joe Rodon, Farke revealed initial concerns over a potential hamstring injury. “He had some problems with his hamstring. It was in the beginning not clear if it was just a cramp or a light injury,” Farke explained. “We have assessed him, also scanned him. It seems like he is to be okay. So, as it stands, I expect him to be available for tomorrow.”
Noah Okafor remains the only confirmed absentee for Leeds United ahead of the Sunderland clash. Farke confirmed that Okafor will not be available for selection. “So, as it stands, I expect just Noah Okafor to be out for this game and all the others will be available,” he said.
The match at Elland Road represents a quick return to action for Leeds United after their narrow loss to Manchester City. Farke’s team will be looking to secure points against Sunderland as they continue their Premier League campaign.
