World number one Ahn Se-young swiftly advanced to the round of 16 at the 2026 All England Open badminton tournament on Tuesday, defeating Nesleyhan Arin of Turkey 21-8, 21-6 in just 27 minutes.
The dominant performance at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham marks a strong start to Ahn’s campaign to defend the title she won last year. Ahn Se-young had a stellar 2025, securing 11 tournament victories, and has continued her success into 2026 with wins at the Malaysia Open and India Open, as well as contributing to Korea’s victory at the Asian Team Championships.
Ahn quickly established control of the first game, building a substantial lead and closing it out with a decisive 21-8 score. She continued her momentum in the second game, overwhelming Arin to secure a 21-6 victory and complete the match.
In the next round, Ahn will face Lin Xiang-ti of Taiwan, who defeated Shim Yu-jin 21-16, 21-13 in the first round. Ahn Se-young will be aiming for back-to-back All England Open singles titles, continuing a strong run for Korean badminton.
