Atlantic City, New Jersey – Travis Scott’s foray into acting has moved beyond music videos and soundtrack contributions. The rapper and producer appeared in the first trailer for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, The Odyssey, released Sunday during the broadcast of the AFC Championship game on Fox, delivering a spoken line and signaling a potentially significant role in the adaptation of Homer’s epic poem.
The one-minute trailer features Scott, whose character remains unnamed, silencing actors Jon Bernthal and Tom Holland with a dramatic staff tap. “A war, a man, a trick — a trick to break the walls of Troy,” Scott intones, as scenes depicting the Trojan War unfold. “It burning, screaming to the ground.”
Scott’s appearance in The Odyssey builds on a prior collaboration with Nolan. He contributed the song “THE PLAN” to the soundtrack of Nolan’s 2020 film, Tenet, a partnership Nolan described as crucial to the film’s completion. “His voice became the final piece of a year-long puzzle,” Nolan told GQ at the time. “His insights into the musical and narrative mechanism [that composer] Ludwig Göransson and I were building were immediate, insightful and profound.”
The Odyssey boasts a sprawling cast alongside Scott, including Matt Damon as Odysseus, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron. The film adapts Homer’s foundational work, recounting the decade-long journey of Odysseus’s return to Ithaca following the Trojan War.
Scott’s involvement extends beyond a cameo. His inclusion in the trailer with a speaking role suggests a character of some consequence within the narrative. This marks a significant step for the artist, whose previous acting experience has largely been confined to visual components of his own musical projects.
The move into a major film production also arrives as Scott continues to be involved in philanthropic efforts. He was a prominent attendee at the REFORM Alliance’s second Casino Night Gala in Atlantic City in September 2025, an event that raised over $20 million for criminal justice reform, alongside figures like Beyoncé, JAY-Z, and Robert Kraft according to Limitless Magazine. Scott has been closely associated with the REFORM Alliance since 2017, following a personal experience with the criminal justice system through his friendship with musician Meek Mill as detailed on the REFORM Alliance website.
The Odyssey is scheduled for release on July 17.
