European Services: Milan, Zurich & Munich – No Disruption

European rail services, including routes connecting Milan, Zurich, and Munich, are maintaining normal operations despite ongoing geopolitical tensions, according to a statement released Monday.

The confirmation comes as travelers increasingly seek alternatives to air travel, particularly within Europe. Rail travel between Milan and Zurich currently costs from £30.78, with a journey time of approximately 3 hours and 12 minutes, according to Trainline. Trenitalia’s EuroCity service offers direct connections between the two cities, arriving at Zurich HB station.

Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) reports that tickets between Zurich and Milan are available from CHF 25 in second class, with a travel time of 3 hours and 20 minutes. Direct connections operate 14 times daily from Zurich HB to Milano Central. Seat reservations are included with the purchase of tickets on direct EuroCity trains, though availability is limited.

Railbookers offers package travel options encompassing all three cities – Munich, Zurich, and Milan – including tours of Neuschwanstein Castle and lake cruises on Lake Zurich. The company also highlights the flexibility to customize itineraries, adding extra nights or reversing the order of travel.

Rome2Rio data indicates that the cheapest travel option between Milan and Zurich is currently priced at $21, though the fastest route takes just over 3 ¼ hours. The SBB offers tickets via its website, mobile app, and at ticket counters, with a 24/7 contact center available at CHF 0.08 per minute.

SBB currently offers fares from CHF 59 for first class travel on the Gotthard route. Direct trains depart Zurich HB at 06:33 and 19:33 daily. Connections to Paris, Munich, Frankfurt, and Vienna are also available through SBB.
