Arrowhead Clinic Expands Care to Students’ Families | Stephens County Schools

The Arrowhead Health and Wellness Clinic in Toccoa, Georgia, is expanding its services to include immediate family members of Stephens County Schools students, as well as faculty and staff and their families, according to an announcement made Monday by Stephens County Schools.

Previously focused solely on students, the clinic, located on the campus of Stephens County High School, now aims to serve a broader segment of the community. Bre Bardenwerper, School and Community Engagement Coordinator for Stephens County Schools, highlighted the expansion in a recent audio announcement. “The Arrowhead Health and Wellness Clinic is excited to expand care to parents, siblings, and families because keeping your whole household healthy matters,” Bardenwerper stated.

The clinic operates out of the former CTAE Building, which also houses the Stephens County School System Advanced Academy, Maintenance Department, Technology Department, and Mountain Education Clinic. Established in October 2025 through a partnership between Stephens County Hospital and the Stephens County School System, the clinic’s initial goal was to improve student health, reduce school absences, and bolster academic performance by providing accessible medical care.

Services offered at the clinic include treatment for sick and urgent care visits, minor injuries, physical exams – including sports physicals – lab services, and prescription refills. The clinic also provides referrals to specialists when needed. Beyond medical treatment, the clinic offers support for nutrition and physical activity, attendance promotion, and awareness programs related to drugs, alcohol, smoking, and vaping. Assistance establishing a primary care physician and support for health screenings are also available.

According to Stephens County Hospital, the clinic was designed to overcome common barriers to healthcare access, such as lengthy wait times, appointment availability, and delays in accepting new patients. The clinic does not offer reproductive care, contraceptives, sex education materials, or surgical procedures.

Appointments can be scheduled by calling 706-282-5881, and walk-ins are also welcome.
