Los Angeles, CA – The 32nd Actor Awards, formerly known as the SAG Awards, commenced Sunday evening at the Shrine Auditorium, marking a significant rebranding for the organization celebrating on-screen performances. The ceremony saw a star-studded red carpet, with actors including Timothée Chalamet, Emma Stone, Jenna Ortega, and Michael B. Jordan in attendance, as the event positions itself as the final major precursor to the Academy Awards on March 15th.
Emma Stone, nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her work in Bugonia, arrived with her husband, Dave McCary, marking a rare public appearance for the private couple. Stone donned a lavender slip dress by Louis Vuitton paired with a matching sweater, a departure from more traditional red carpet gowns. McCary complemented her look in a classic black tuxedo, adhering to the evening’s dress code of “Reimagining Hollywood Glamour From the ’20s and ’30s.” The pair were photographed embracing, demonstrating a visible affection as they posed for photographers.
Bugonia represents Stone’s fourth collaboration with director Yorgos Lanthimos, following previous projects including Poor Things, a short film titled Bleat, and The Favourite. Stone has described the working environment with Lanthimos as “comforting and safe,” fostering a sense of creative freedom. Lanthimos himself has emphasized his preference for tailoring characters to the strengths of the actors he works with, rather than casting actors to fit pre-defined roles.
Too on the red carpet was Timothée Chalamet, nominated for his role in Marty Supreme. Gwyneth Paltrow also appeared alongside Chalamet, both contributing to the evening’s display of Hollywood glamour. Michael B. Jordan was accompanied by his mother, Donna, while Jenna Ortega, known for her role in Wednesday, also made an appearance.
The ceremony featured presentations by Viola Davis, a five-time Actor Award winner, and Demi Moore, who won Best Actress at last year’s event. Kristen Bell returned as host for the evening. Quinta Brunson, showrunner and actress from Abbott Elementary, and Aimee Lou Wood, of The White Lotus, were also among the attendees.
The Actor Awards recognize both television and film performances. Stone faces competition in her category from Rose Byrne, Kate Hudson, Chase Infiniti, and Jessie Buckley. The full list of winners has yet to be released.
