A violent fire destroyed a house and a barn in Larroque, in the Haute-Garonne department of southwestern France, on Saturday, February 28th. Firefighters battled the blaze for over six hours, finally extinguishing the flames at 3:00 AM on Sunday, March 1st.

The fire was first reported at approximately 6:40 PM, quickly spreading from the house to the adjacent barn, which measured 350 square meters. According to the Service Départemental d’Incendie et de Secours (SDIS) 31, the fire posed an immediate risk due to a 1,000-liter fuel tank located near the burning structures. Firefighters prioritized cooling the tank to prevent potential fuel contamination.

A total of 23 firefighters, supported by seven vehicles and three fire hoses, were deployed to combat the blaze. Both the house, estimated at 200 square meters, and the barn were completely destroyed. A tractor, a utility vehicle, and a passenger car were also lost in the fire, according to reports.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined. The incident occurred in the southern part of the Haute-Garonne region, and prompted a lengthy intervention for emergency services.

As of Sunday morning, authorities have not released information regarding potential injuries or displacement of residents. The investigation into the origin of the fire is ongoing.
