Bridgerton’s Real-Life Dukes: Meet Tony Cooper & Nicholas Braimbridge

by Emma Walker – News Editor

The fourth season of Netflix’s “Bridgerton” concluded with a tribute to two members of its production team: Nicholas Braimbridge and Tony Cooper. A dedication card appearing before the post-credits scene read, “In loving memory of Nicholas Braimbridge, Tony Cooper,” prompting questions about their roles in bringing the popular series to life.

Nicholas Braimbridge worked as a scenic artist on “Bridgerton” and its spin-off, “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.” He was known for his expertise in faux finishing, particularly marbling and wood grain techniques, skills honed over years working with high-end interior designers before transitioning to the film and television industries. Colleagues remembered him as a “delightful, charming, funny man” and an integral part of the art department, according to art director Alison Gartshore. Braimbridge died in May 2025, leaving behind two teenage daughters, Flora and Amelia, who subsequently became orphans following the death of their mother shortly before his passing. A GoFundMe campaign was launched by Gartshore to support his daughters.

Tony Cooper served as a unit driver for “Bridgerton” and “Queen Charlotte,” responsible for transporting cast, crew, props, and equipment to and from set. His career spanned numerous high-profile productions, including the final three Harry Potter films, the 2015 adaptation of “Cinderella,” the Winston Churchill biopic “Darkest Hour,” Netflix’s “The Crown,” and Marvel’s “Black Widow.” Details regarding his time and cause of death have not been publicly released.

“Bridgerton” has previously honored crew members with on-screen tributes, including Brian Nickels, Marc Pilcher, and Carole Prentice, reflecting a practice of acknowledging the contributions of those behind the scenes. The series premiered on Netflix in December 2020 and has since develop into a global phenomenon.
