The Colombian peso continued its upward trend against the U.S. Dollar on Friday, February 27, 2026, reaching a rate of 3,745.78 pesos per dollar, according to the Banco de la República. This marks a significant increase from the previous day’s rate of 3,703.69 pesos per dollar.

The strengthening of the dollar has implications for various sectors of the Colombian economy. Experts indicate that export companies, the tourism industry, individuals receiving income in dollars, foreign investors, and the government – due to increased tax revenue from oil – generally benefit from a stronger dollar.

Currency exchange houses across Colombia are reflecting these shifts, though rates vary by city. As of Friday, February 27, exchange rates were reported as follows: Bogotá – 3,610 pesos for purchase and 3,710 pesos for sale. Medellín – 3,580 pesos for purchase and 3,720 pesos for sale; Cali – 3,580 pesos for purchase and 3,700 pesos for sale; Cartagena – 3,750 pesos for purchase and 3,980 pesos for sale; Cúcuta – 3,600 pesos for purchase and 3,640 pesos for sale; and Pereira – 3,730 pesos for purchase and 3,800 pesos for sale. Bogotá and Medellín were the only cities to indicate changes in purchase and sale prices compared to Thursday, February 26.

The Tasa Representativa del Mercado (TRM), the official exchange rate calculated by the Banco de la República, stood at 3,766.30 pesos per dollar on February 28, 2026, representing a rise of 20.52 pesos and a 0.55% increase, according to data from Suameca.

Experts caution that daily exchange rates at currency exchange houses can fluctuate based on location and other market factors. The Superintendencia Financiera provides oversight of these transactions.
