Brad Gushue, one of Canada’s most decorated curlers, will release an autobiography this fall, co-written with bestselling author Stephen Brunt. The announcement comes as Gushue competes in what he has declared will be his final Brier tournament before retirement.
Titled ‘Gushue: The Making of a Champion,’ the book promises an in-depth look at the highs and lows of Gushue’s career, offering behind-the-scenes details of his many curling accomplishments. Gushue shared the news via social media, stating his intention to share the “full story” of his journey, including previously untold moments.
The collaboration with Brunt, a well-known sports journalist, aims to provide a comprehensive account of Gushue’s career. Pre-orders for the book are currently available through retailers including Indigo, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon, as well as through Penguin Random House, according to a post on Gushue’s Instagram account.
Gushue’s final Brier appearance has drawn attention to his legacy in the sport. He has won the Canadian men’s curling championship six times, and earned an Olympic gold medal. Commentators have suggested a victory at this year’s Brier would be a fitting end to his career, though the outcome remains uncertain.
The book is expected to delve into the complexities of competitive curling, offering insights into the strategy and dedication required to succeed at the highest level. Gushue’s decision to document his experiences reflects a desire to share his story with fans and provide a lasting record of his contributions to the sport.
