Nadja Benaissa, best known as a member of the German pop group No Angels, is competing on the current season of “Let’s Dance,” the German adaptation of “Dancing with the Stars.” The 43-year-old singer and television personality began her journey on the dance floor on February 27, 2026, trading the stage she’s known for years for the challenges of ballroom competition, according to RTL.

Benaissa rose to prominence in 2000 as a member of No Angels, formed during the reality television present “Popstars.” The group achieved significant success with their debut single, “Daylight in Your Eyes,” and became one of the best-selling girl groups of European origin, according to Wikipedia. While enjoying success with the group, Benaissa too faced personal challenges, including struggles with drug and alcohol abuse that began in her teenage years.

Following the initial breakup of No Angels in 2003, Benaissa pursued a solo career, releasing her debut album, “Schritt für Schritt” (Step by Step), in 2006. The album included the single “Ich hab dich” and she represented the state of Hesse in the Bundesvision Song Contest in 2006, finishing fourth. She rejoined No Angels in 2007, but departed again in 2010 after being convicted of causing grievous bodily harm and two counts of attempted bodily harm, receiving a two-year suspended sentence. The charges stemmed from having unprotected sex with partners unaware of her HIV-positive status.

After leaving No Angels in 2010, Benaissa released her autobiography, “Alles wird gut” (Everything Will Be Alright), and moved to Berlin to complete her Abitur exams and qualify as an event manager. In 2019, she joined the a cappella group Medlz, recording two studio albums before leaving in 2021 to rejoin No Angels for their 20th-anniversary celebrations. The group released a Christmas album in 2025.

Beyond music, Benaissa has diversified her career. She completed a training course to become a fitness trainer in 2021 and currently works as a personal trainer and health coach. She also announced a “Mini-Tour” for 2026, indicating continued activity as a solo artist. Born in Frankfurt on April 26, 1982, to a Moroccan father, Muhamed Benaissa, and a mother of mixed Serbian and German ethnicity, Sabina, Benaissa’s path has been marked by both public success and personal adversity.
