Gabriela Martins Santos de Moura, a 31-year-classic Brazilian influencer and lawyer, died on February 24th following complications during an in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedure at the Hospital Sírio-Libanês in São Paulo, Brazil. She had been in a coma for eight days after experiencing a cardiorespiratory arrest during the procedure, according to reports.
Martins Santos de Moura had been undergoing IVF treatment for two years with her husband, Samuel Moura, a hand surgeon, in their attempt to conceive. The couple celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary just one day before her death, according to family statements.
Family members confirmed her brain death and authorized the donation of her organs, a decision described as reflecting her “love and generosity.” Her cousin, Nahiza Monteles, a journalist, told G1 that arrangements were being made to transport her body from São Paulo to Teresina, Piauí, her birthplace.
Monteles also refuted reports circulating online that Martins Santos de Moura had been undergoing plastic surgery. “My cousin wasn’t having plastic surgery or a cosmetic procedure; she was trying to create life,” Monteles stated, emphasizing that the IVF treatment was performed at a highly reputable clinic.
Martins Santos de Moura was known on social media for sharing content focused on positive psychology, neuroscience, emotional wellbeing, and personal development. She had built a significant following in Brazil with her messages promoting mental health and conscious living.
