Telecentras Wins Dispute: Seeks €190K from Darnu Group Over Vilnius Property

A long-running dispute between Lietuvos radijo ir televizijos centras (Telecentras), Lithuania’s public broadcaster, and the real estate development company Darnu Group has concluded with a settlement, Vilnius Regional Court confirmed on February 19th. The agreement brings an end to eight years of litigation over a property located at Tujų g. 2 in Vilnius’ Viršuliškės district.

The conflict began after Telecentras regained possession of the property and its buildings in early 2024, following years of legal battles with Darnu Group. Upon receiving the property back, Telecentras alleged that the buildings had been neglected during the period of dispute and subsequently filed a claim for damages. Initially, Telecentras sought 324,317 Euros in compensation from Darnu Group, a figure that was later reduced to 190,621 Euros by January 2026, according to court filings.

The settlement, confirmed by Lina Nemeikaitė, a spokesperson for the Vilnius Regional Court, stipulates that the terms do not contradict Lithuanian law or public interest, nor do they infringe upon the rights of either party. While the specific details of the agreement remain undisclosed, Valdas Kaminskas, Telecentras’s head of communications, declined to comment on the financial terms, neither confirming nor denying reports that Darnu Group would pay the reduced amount of 190,621 Euros.

The case saw multiple appeals. In October 2023, the Lithuanian Court of Appeal ruled that Darnu Group was obligated to return the property and buildings in Viršuliškės to Telecentras, while Telecentras was to reimburse Darnu Group more than 6 million Euros with interest. This ruling was then subject to further review by the Lithuanian Supreme Court, which in October 2025 upheld the Appeal Court’s decision to send the case back to the Vilnius Regional Court for re-examination.

Prior to the settlement, Telecentras maintained that the returned buildings were in a demonstrably worse condition than when they were initially leased to Darnu Group, citing a lack of maintenance and improper use. The resolution of the dispute follows a final ruling by the Lithuanian Supreme Court last year, mandating that the Vilnius Regional Court revisit the damage claims.

The culmination of the legal proceedings involved Telecentras receiving nearly 7.95 million Euros from Darnu Group, alongside the return of the land and buildings on Tujų Street. The court’s confirmation of the peace agreement on February 19th has now officially closed the case.
