Nvidia Shield TV Update 9.2.4: New Features & Download

by Priya Shah – Business Editor

NVIDIA has released Shield Experience Upgrade 9.2.4 for its Shield TV and Shield Pro devices, delivering January 2026 security patches and addressing several user-reported issues, marking over a decade of continuous software support for the platform. The update, which began rolling out on February 25th, focuses on bug fixes impacting Disney+ playback, Bluetooth connectivity, and device behavior following sleep mode, according to announcements made via NVIDIA’s forums and reported by multiple tech publications.

A primary concern addressed in the upgrade is a frequent disconnect issue affecting third-party Bluetooth remotes. Users had reported intermittent connection losses, particularly with Xbox controllers, after waking the Shield TV from sleep. The update also resolves a separate disconnect issue with NVIDIA’s own remote. The 9.2.4 upgrade fixes a crash that could unexpectedly power on both the Shield TV and connected devices via HDMI-CEC when exiting sleep mode.

The update also resolves a reported playback issue with Disney+. Users had previously experienced problems with content failing to play correctly on the streaming service. Security has also been bolstered with the inclusion of the latest Android security patches, updated to January 2026, a move NVIDIA consistently undertakes to protect user data and network security.

The release of 9.2.4 follows a previous update, 9.9.2, which focused on accessibility improvements, including pairing alert sounds for the Shield Remote and Controller, a Bounce Keys feature, an Accessibility Key Repeat feature, an accessibility timeout settings interface, and TalkBack text-to-speech support in 23 European languages. While 9.2.4 is described as a maintenance release, it demonstrates NVIDIA’s continued commitment to the Shield TV platform, a device that stands out in the Android TV landscape for its longevity of software support.

NVIDIA announced earlier this week that it has no immediate plans to discontinue software support for the Shield TV, despite the limited availability of new Android TV hardware options in 2026. The company has not yet commented on potential plans for new Shield TV hardware.
