Lomas Plaza Mall: Construction Update & Opening Date – Lima, Peru

by Emma Walker – News Editor

Construction of Lomas Plaza, the first large-scale shopping mall in the Rímac district of Lima, Peru, is progressing with an anticipated opening in mid-2026. The project, spearheaded by real estate firm Besco, represents an approximately 80 million Soles (approximately $22.2 million USD) investment and is intended to modernize the urban landscape of the district.

The development aims to address a gap in retail offerings within Rímac, a predominantly residential area that has seen significant real estate development in recent years. Lomas Plaza is designed as a “strip center,” prioritizing convenience with directly accessible storefronts and a focus on everyday shopping and services. The mall will encompass over 3,000 square meters of leasable space.

Construction officially began on November 12, 2024, and has since made notable progress on both the main structure and the commercial areas. The project is located near the former shooting range of the Hoyos Rubios Barracks and adjacent to the Altos and Lomas del Rímac housing complexes.

The initiative is viewed as a significant step in the ongoing expansion of the retail sector in Peru, which is increasingly focused on decentralizing commercial opportunities within the Lima Metropolitan Area. Besco’s investment is expected to generate employment and stimulate the local economy, although also adding cultural, tourist, and urban value to the area, according to industry analysts.

The mall’s design emphasizes ease of access and caters to the needs of local residents. The project’s developers have not yet announced a specific list of tenants, but the focus on convenience suggests a mix of essential retail and service providers.
