LAS VEGAS — Metallica will launch a groundbreaking residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas this fall, debuting their “Life Burns Faster” present on October 1, 2026. The eight-show run, continuing the band’s “No Repeat Weekend” tradition, will feature distinct setlists for each Thursday and Saturday performance, ensuring no two shows are alike.
Tickets for two-night “No Repeat Weekend” packages and single-night admissions head on sale March 6 at 10 a.m. PT, following presales for Fan Club members and Travel Package purchasers. Travel Packages, available through Vibee.com, include tickets to both Thursday and Saturday shows, a three-night stay at either The Venetian Resort Las Vegas or Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, limited-edition merchandise, and concierge service. Diamond and Signature editions of the packages offer additional perks, such as priority entry and luxury transportation.
The residency marks Metallica as the first hard rock band to perform at the technologically advanced Sphere, known for its immersive experiences. The venue boasts the world’s highest resolution LED display, wrapping around and above the audience, alongside Sphere Immersive Sound and multi-sensory 4D technology.
“About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ‘23, I thought, ‘We have to do this. It’s completely uncharted territory!’” said Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich in a statement. “This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting. We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months time, and way fuckin’ psyched to go next level!”
Metallica’s “Life Burns Faster” is produced by Live Nation and presented by inKind. The band has been consistently touring since 2023 with their “M72” world tour, which has already reached over four million fans across multiple continents. The Sphere residency will build upon the staging and production elements of the “M72” tour, incorporating the venue’s unique capabilities to enhance the band’s live performance.
The Sphere has previously hosted residencies from U2, Phish, Dead & Company, and The Eagles. U2’s residency, “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere,” drew over 700,000 fans and became a global cultural event, showcasing the venue’s immersive technology. The Sphere also hosted the NHL Draft and a UFC event in September 2024.
Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo previously expressed enthusiasm for the possibility of performing at the Sphere, noting the potential for visual stimulation given the band’s music. Guitarist Kirk Hammett also highlighted the venue’s leverage of modern technology and artificial intelligence to elevate live entertainment.
