ROSEMONT, Ill. — Michigan State University senior gymnast Olivia Zsarmani has been named the Big Ten Specialist of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
The recognition marks the second Specialist of the Week award of Zsarmani’s career, following a previous honor on March 19, 2024. She is the second Spartan to receive the accolade this season, joining teammate Sage Kellerman, who was recognized twice on February 3 and February 17, according to the Big Ten Conference.
Zsarmani’s performance against Ohio State last weekend earned her the distinction. Returning to the vault lineup for the first time since February 1, she secured a season-best score of 9.950, claiming her first individual title of the season on the event. Her performance contributed to Michigan State’s team score of 197.300, their second-highest of the season, in a meet against the then-21st-ranked Buckeyes.
The Spartans have achieved a score above 197.000 in four consecutive weeks. Zsarmani, Kellerman, and Stephanie Lebster have been named team captains for the 2026 season, according to head coach Mike Rowe.
No. 11 Michigan State will conclude its Big Ten regular season schedule at the Big Four Meet on Sunday, March 1, at 4 p.m. ET. The meet, hosted by No. 13 Minnesota, will also feature teams from Illinois and Rutgers and will be broadcast nationally on the Big Ten Network.
