A 23-year-old man has been accused of fatally stamping a 56-year-old woman in Leicester, England, shortly after losing control of his car, according to court testimony.
Chukwuemeka Ahanonu, a benefits claimant who allegedly earned up to £10,000 a month through drug dealing, is accused of killing Nila Patel on February 23, 2026. The incident occurred in broad daylight, following a collision where Ahanonu’s BMW flipped onto its roof, the Telegraph reported.
Prosecutors allege that Ahanonu then launched a brutal attack on Patel, stamping on her repeatedly. The Daily Mail reported that Ahanonu was allegedly high on cannabis at the time of the attack.
According to reports, Ahanonu was receiving benefits while simultaneously operating a drug business. The Sun reported that he was earning a substantial income from the illegal activity.
Details surrounding the circumstances leading to the initial car crash remain under investigation. No further information regarding potential witnesses or the immediate aftermath of the attack has been released by authorities.
Ahanonu is currently in custody, and the case is ongoing. A trial date has not yet been set.
