PGA Tour West Coast Swing: Winners, Losers & Biggest Questions for 2026

Jacob Bridgeman conquered pressure and secured his first PGA TOUR victory at the 100th playing of The Genesis Invitational, finishing one stroke ahead of the field at Riviera Country Club on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

The 26-year-old Bridgeman entered the final round with a six-shot lead, a position he maintained despite the challenges of Riviera’s course. His 19-under-par 194 through 54 holes tied the tournament record for the lowest score at that stage, according to tournament updates.

Bridgeman’s win marks a strong start for young players on the PGA Tour, mirroring the success of Chris Gotterup, who has also claimed victories in recent events. Both golfers are 26 years old and are establishing themselves as key competitors.

The Genesis Invitational, hosted by Tiger Woods, took place at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California, from February 19-22, 2026. The course played as a par-71, extending to 7,383 yards, making it one of the longer courses on the PGA Tour. The par-3 4th hole was lengthened by 37 yards to 273 yards, and the par-4 18th was extended by 24 yards to 499 yards.

While the tournament showcased emerging talent, questions remain regarding the PGA Tour’s future plans for events in Hawaii. The Tour skipped Kapalua this year, and the Sony sponsorship recently expired, raising concerns about the logistical challenges and market value of continuing to hold events in the islands.

The performance of Scandinavian golfers was a point of discussion during the West Coast Swing. While Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg are highly regarded, they faced challenges during the tournaments, with Hovland experiencing mixed results and Aberg falling ill during the swing. Alex Noren also had inconsistent results, though a T12 finish at Riviera offered some encouragement.

The question of whether Tiger Woods will participate in the Masters Tournament remains open. Woods has indicated his intention to attempt to play, contingent on his physical condition.

Scottie Scheffler, despite a slow start on Thursdays during the West Coast Swing, demonstrated resilience and finished at T12 in The Genesis Invitational. His scoring averages by round were: Round 1: 70.50, Round 2: 65.75, Round 3: 67.00, and Round 4: 64.50.

The CBS golf coverage received praise for its visual presentation and musical choices, enhancing the viewing experience for fans.

Concerns were raised regarding the weather conditions during the West Coast Swing, with cold and soggy conditions at Pebble Beach and Riviera potentially impacting the character of the courses. Discussions are ongoing about potentially moving these events to later in the PGA Tour schedule.
