The highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 horror-comedy Ready or Not, titled Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, is set to arrive in theaters on March 20, according to Rotten Tomatoes.

The original film, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, garnered critical acclaim for its darkly humorous and gory take on the home-invasion genre. The sequel will see the return of Samara Weaving as Grace, the bride who must survive a deadly game orchestrated by her new husband’s wealthy and eccentric family. This time, however, Grace will be joined by her estranged sister, played by Kathryn Newton.

Joining Weaving and Newton is a cast that includes Sarah Michelle Gellar, Elijah Wood, Shawn Hatosy, and David Cronenberg, according to Rotten Tomatoes. The plot centers on Grace discovering she has reached a new level in the nightmarish game, with four rival families competing for a powerful throne, and the winner taking all, as detailed by IMDb.

Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett, who collectively work under the Radio Silence Productions banner, also directed the first Ready or Not. The initial film followed a young bride as she was hunted by her spouse’s family as part of a satanic wedding night ritual, as outlined in a Wikipedia entry for the film.

Although the future of the film series hasn’t been officially confirmed beyond the current sequel, the directors have expressed a desire to continue the franchise, according to Yahoo Entertainment. The original Ready or Not earned $57.6 million at the box office, according to Wikipedia, suggesting a potential audience for further installments.

An exclusive extended sneak peek of Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is currently available, with tickets available for reservation on Fandango.
