US Ambassador No-Show at French Ministry Meeting

by Lucas Fernandez – World Editor

The U.S. Ambassador to France, Charles Kushner, did not appear at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs on Sunday as requested, prompting Paris to impose restrictions on his future interactions with the French government.

The summons stemmed from statements made by the previous U.S. Administration regarding the death of Quentin Derangère, a far-right activist in France. Washington characterized the incident as an act of radical-left “terrorism,” a description strongly objected to by the French Ministry, which requested Kushner’s presence to express its disapproval.

According to the French Ministry, Kushner’s failure to appear constitutes “the apparent inability to fulfill the basic requirements of an ambassadorial mission.” As a consequence, he will no longer have direct access to members of the French government. Still, the Ministry clarified that Kushner will still be permitted to engage with other government officials.

Charles Kushner is the father of Jared Kushner, a senior advisor to the former U.S. President. The incident marks a significant diplomatic friction point between the two nations, centering on differing interpretations of domestic political events and the appropriate level of external commentary.

The French Ministry has not indicated whether further diplomatic action will be taken, and the U.S. State Department has yet to issue a formal response to the imposed restrictions.
