The second season of Hulu’s post-apocalyptic political thriller, Paradise, is set to premiere February 23, 2026, continuing the story of a group of Americans living in an underground bunker three years after a catastrophic event known as “The Day.” The first season concluded with the revelation of who killed President Cal Bradford, a central mystery that drove the narrative.
Sterling K. Brown, who portrays Secret Service agent Xavier Collins, described a shift in his character’s mindset heading into the new season. Collins, having operated under suspicion, now approaches his mission with a renewed sense of trust. He is focused on locating his wife, Teri and Brown emphasized the emotional stakes, stating that failing to find her would be “too much for him to bear.”
Season 2 will expand the scope of the series by revisiting the events of “The Day” and introducing a new character, Annie, played by Shailene Woodley. According to creator Dan Fogelman, Annie’s introduction will broaden the understanding of survival beyond the confines of the bunker, revealing that the outside world, while flawed, remained functional.
Julianne Nicholson, who plays Samantha “Sinatra” Redmond, hinted at a deeper exploration of the reveal’s mythology, suggesting themes that extend beyond political intrigue and into more existential questions. Her character, who previously wielded significant control within the bunker, will face new limitations on her power, a development Nicholson welcomed as an opportunity to add complexity and empathy to Sinatra’s portrayal. “The glorious thing about doing television is that you just get to go deeper with each episode,” Nicholson said.
Despite the critical acclaim and an Emmy nomination for Sterling K. Brown, the cast and crew are maintaining their focus on delivering a high-quality product. Brown noted that the scripts continued to impress him, stating, “If One can just execute what’s on the page, then we should be okay.” Nicholson echoed this sentiment, highlighting Fogelman’s long-term vision for the series and the decision to move beyond the established bunker setting. “Sending Xavier out into the world, there’s a whole new world to explore,” she said.
Fogelman has indicated that the new season will build upon the foundation laid in the first, introducing new characters and storylines while answering existing questions and posing new ones. Brown believes the second season is “propulsive,” with each episode designed to move the plot forward and address audience concerns, such as Xavier’s search for his wife.
The series, created by Dan Fogelman and starring Brown, Nicholson, and James Marsden, initially premiered on Hulu on January 26, 2025, and received generally positive reviews. Paradise received a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, with nominations also going to Brown, Nicholson, and Marsden. The show was renewed for a second season in February 2025.
