Dover City Offices & Library Closed Feb 23 – Council Meeting Impacted

DOVER – City offices in Dover, Delaware, will be closed on Saturday, February 23, 2026, according to a notice released Friday. The closure impacts all municipal buildings, including the Dover Public Library and the Pitts Center.

The Dover Public Library, located at 35 Loockerman Plaza, will be closed for the entire day. Regular library hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 7:55 PM, Saturday 10:00 AM to 4:55 PM, and Sunday 1:00 PM to 4:55 PM. The library’s Teen Loft also has adjusted hours, operating Monday through Friday from 11:30 AM to 7:45 PM, Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:45 PM, and Sunday from 1:00 PM to 4:45 PM. Library staff can be contacted via email and respond within 72 hours, according to the city’s website.

The reason for the closure was not immediately specified in the city’s announcement. The Dover City Council meeting previously scheduled for February 23rd has also been affected, though details regarding rescheduling were not released.

The Dover Public Library serves as a community hub, offering access to books, multimedia content, technology, and collaborative spaces. The library also maintains a network of Little Free Libraries in Dover parks, in partnership with the City of Dover Parks & Recreation Department. These smaller libraries are supported by the Dover City Council and the Friends of the Dover Library.
