Rabe & Zoomlion Expand into Full-Line Agricultural Machinery | Agritechnica 2025 Plans

Rabe, the German agricultural technology firm acquired by Chinese machinery giant Zoomlion, intends to become a “full-liner” in the European premium market for agricultural machinery, according to Oliver Jungermann, Rabe’s Marketing Director. The company is actively recruiting for positions related to crop protection, grassland technology, and fertilization, areas where Rabe has not traditionally been a major player.

Jungermann stated that Rabe and Zoomlion aim to offer a broader spectrum of solutions to farmers, encompassing not only their existing product lines – including plows, seeding technology, shallow cultivators, short disc harrows, and telehandlers – but also these new areas of focus. “Here, we are currently looking for employees,” Jungermann said, signaling a significant expansion of the company’s portfolio.

The move comes as Zoomlion seeks to establish itself as a premium brand in Europe. The Chinese conglomerate acquired Rabe after the German firm faced financial difficulties and insolvency, as reported by Deutsche Welle. Since the acquisition in 2020, Zoomlion has invested in revitalizing Rabe’s product line and modernizing its production processes.

Zoomlion showcased its ambitions at Agritechnica 2025, debuting a lineup of high-end green and smart agricultural machinery, including hybrid tractors and harvesters designed for the European market. The company’s equipment, branded with its “Aurora Green” color scheme, was among the first to be set up at the Hanover Exhibition Center. A key element of Zoomlion’s strategy is its proprietary HIDD platform, an integrated hybrid power system.

Rabe’s expertise in tillage technology was a key factor in Zoomlion’s decision to acquire the company, according to Deutsche Welle. The partnership allows German-engineered agricultural equipment to access the Chinese market, while also enabling Zoomlion to expand its presence in Europe through Rabe’s existing distribution network. At Agritechnica 2025, Zoomlion and RABE jointly presented a hybrid tractor debut under the RABE-Green imprint.

The expansion into crop protection, grassland technology, and fertilization represents a significant shift for Rabe, which has historically been known for its tillage and seeding equipment. The company is actively seeking “overall designers for mowers and hay tedders as well as a product manager for plant protection machines,” according to reports, indicating a concrete commitment to these new product categories.
