Shockers Got Talent: Auditions Open – Win Up to $1,000 | WSU Sunflower

Wichita State University students are preparing to showcase their talents at the annual Shockers Got Talent show, with application deadlines fast approaching. The Student Activities Council (SAC) announced the upcoming event via Instagram, encouraging singers, dancers, and performers of all types to audition.

This year’s competition, the third annual event, will be held on April 3, according to the SAC. Students who participate have the opportunity to win scholarship funds, with first, second, and third place prizes awarding $1,000, $800, and $500 respectively. The SAC is also seeking a student emcee for the show, offering a $100 stipend for their time.

The deadline to apply for both performers and the emcee position is midnight on February 27. Interested students can submit audition videos and emcee applications through the SAC website. Past Shockers Got Talent events have featured a diverse range of performances, including singers, pianists, rap artists, cultural dances, and bands.

According to Wichita State University’s event calendar, the show will take place at Miller Concert Hall, with doors opening at 6 p.m. Admission is free for WSU students with a valid student ID, $5 for faculty and staff, and $8 for the general public. The event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. On April 2.

The Student Activities Council is also seeking judges for the event. Faculty and staff members who volunteer will receive complimentary seating and dinner. The deadline to apply to be a judge is midnight on March 13.
