Latvian Music Awards Return: Ceremony & Concert in Cesis 2026

The Latvian Great Music Awards ceremony and accompanying concert will return to an in-person format on March 6, 2026, at the Cēsis Concert Hall, organizers announced. Tickets for the event are now on sale, marking the first time in several years the public will be able to attend the prestigious awards in person.

The Great Music Award, established in 1993 on the initiative of then-Culture Minister Raimonds Pauls, is Latvia’s highest state award in music. The ceremony recognizes outstanding achievements in the Latvian music scene, with laureates selected by a respected jury of music professionals who attend concerts and convene monthly to evaluate performances throughout the year. Nominations are announced in January, with the final winners revealed during the ceremony itself.

This year’s event will feature performances by leading Latvian musicians alongside the awards presentation. The ceremony and concert are organized by the Latvian Republic’s Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the State Agency “Latvian Concerts.”

“The Great Music Award is a tribute to the excellence of professionals in the industry for their consistently high-quality work, both at home and in representing Latvia internationally,” stated Culture Minister Agnese Lāce. “By holding the Great Music Awards outside of Riga, we want to emphasize that Latvia is an excellent example of how, thanks to state support, diverse and high-quality cultural events are accessible to residents in all regions of Latvia.”

Signet Banka is serving as the patron of this year’s awards, supporting professional excellence in Latvian music and promoting access to high-quality culture for a wider audience. Voting for the “Delfi” audience favorite will take place from February 17th to March 4th, allowing the public to participate in recognizing the nominees. The event will be broadcast by Latvian Public Broadcasting.
