Shein Recall: Popular Children’s Item – Stop Use Immediately

by Priya Shah – Business Editor

Shein is recalling its Egyptian Princess Costume, sold exclusively through its online marketplace, due to safety concerns regarding potential choking and injury hazards, according to reports originating in Ireland and subsequently verified by consumer safety authorities.

The recall follows a similar action initiated by the fast-fashion retailer involving children’s pajama sets. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on Thursday, February 20, 2025, that Shein is recalling the pajama sets due to a violation of federal flammability regulations. The pajamas were sold in four different colors and pose a burn hazard to children.

Consumers are advised to immediately remove the recalled sleepwear from children and discontinue use. Shein is directly contacting all known purchasers to offer a full refund, according to the CPSC. The Irish Sun reported that the Egyptian Princess Costume recall stems from concerns about small parts that could present a choking risk, as well as potential injury hazards.

What we have is not the first time Shein has faced scrutiny over product safety. The recent recalls raise questions about the company’s quality control standards and its adherence to safety regulations for children’s products. The CPSC recall notice for the pajamas specifically cites a failure to meet flammability standards, a critical safety requirement for children’s sleepwear.

Shein has not yet issued a public statement addressing the concerns raised by the recalls beyond notifying direct purchasers. As of February 21, 2026, the company’s website does not prominently feature information about the recalls, and further details regarding the scope of the Egyptian Princess Costume recall, including specific product codes and quantities affected, remain unavailable.
