Warm Weather Returns: 84° Highs Mid-Week

Lubbock, Texas residents can anticipate a shift in weather patterns this week, with a brief cool down giving way to a return to well-above-normal temperatures by the weekend. The National Weather Service in Lubbock forecasts a dip in temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday as cold fronts move through the region.

Tuesday’s high temperatures in Lubbock and Plainview are expected to reach the lower 60s, falling to the low to mid-50s on Wednesday with the arrival of a second cold front. Similar trends are predicted for Brownfield, Friona, and Childress, with highs generally remaining in the 50s to low 60s during the midweek period. Motorists traveling along major roadways including I-27, US-84, US-62, and US-83 may experience northerly winds of 10 to 20 mph, particularly on Wednesday.

The cooling trend is expected to be short-lived. By Thursday, temperatures will initiate to rebound as sunshine returns and winds diminish, climbing into the mid-60s. Friday will see further warming, with highs reaching the upper 60s to low 70s. The most significant warming is forecast for Saturday, when temperatures near Lubbock are expected to approach 70 degrees, with the potential for mid-70s in areas south and west, including Aspermont and Childress.

According to recent forecasts, North Texas is as well experiencing cool, breezy conditions on Saturday, with a broader warming trend expected mid-week, potentially reaching daytime highs near 84 degrees on Wednesday. The coming week is anticipated to be mostly clear and sunny, with some cloud cover expected Tuesday night.

The National Weather Service advises residents to be aware of the daily temperature changes and to plan accordingly for outdoor activities, as winterlike mornings transition to springlike afternoons. Early-shift workers, outdoor crews, and commuters are particularly advised to note the temperature swings during morning hours midweek.
