Arsenal title challenge dealt blow as Wolves draw hands advantage to Man City | Premier League fixtures

Tom Edozie, a 19-year-old making his Premier League debut, scored a stoppage-time equaliser for Wolverhampton Wanderers against Arsenal on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, denying the Gunners a crucial victory and handing a significant boost to Manchester City in the title race.

The 2-2 draw at Molineux Stadium means Arsenal, previously holding a comfortable lead, are now just five points ahead of Manchester City, who have a game in hand. The two title contenders are scheduled to meet at the Etihad Stadium in April, and will as well face each other in the Carabao Cup final in March.

Arsenal had appeared to be cruising to three points after Bukayo Saka opened the scoring in the fifth minute, ending a 15-game goalless run. Piero Hincapie then doubled the lead in the 56th minute, seemingly putting the match beyond Wolves’ reach. However, Hugo Bueno’s curling strike in the 61st minute ignited a comeback for the bottom-placed team.

The late collapse raises concerns about Arsenal’s ability to maintain their form under pressure, as they have now won only two of their last seven Premier League games. What we have is the second consecutive league match in which they have surrendered a lead, having previously drawn against Brentford.

“There was a big difference in how we played in the first half and the second half. We dropped our standards and we got punished for it,” Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka told the BBC after the match.

Wolves’ dramatic turnaround was completed by Edozie’s crisp strike in the fourth minute of added time, sparking scenes of jubilation at Molineux. The goal marked Edozie’s first in the Premier League and came after a mix-up between Arsenal defenders Gabriel and goalkeeper David Raya.

Arsenal’s next challenge is a crucial north London derby against Tottenham on Sunday, February 22. Manchester City, meanwhile, face Newcastle United at home on February 21.
