Kevin Smith’s iconic slacker duo, Jay and Silent Bob, are officially entering the Marvel Universe this June in a one-shot comic book crossover, Jay & Silent Bob: Jays of Future Past, Marvel Comics announced February 19, 2026.
The comic, written by Smith and illustrated by Giuseppe Camuncoli, will feature Jay and Silent Bob’s unexpected arrival and subsequent entanglement with Marvel’s heroes, including the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, and the X-Men. The unlikely pairing comes about after Doctor Doom decrees that the pair must die, triggering a joint mission to protect them from “a lethal case of superhero fatigue,” according to Marvel.
Smith first pitched the crossover idea to Marvel’s Stan Lee in 1995, during a cameo appearance in his film Mallrats. “From the moment in Mallrats when they made the very first reference to Wolverine in cinema history, I’ve always wanted Jay and Silent Bob to meet their Marvel heroes in a comic book crossover,” Smith said in a statement released by Marvel. “So much so that I pitched it to Stan the Man himself the day he shot his cameo in the movie way back in 1995.”
The one-shot is described as a “Multiverse-shattering” event, blending Smith’s signature slacker humor with the scale of the Marvel Universe. The cover art will be by Marco Checchetto. Jay & Silent Bob: Jays of Future Past #1 is scheduled for release on June 10, 2026.
