MILAN – Finland’s Juuse Saros is living up to a memorable television commercial, and silencing opponents at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. The Predators goaltender, known for repeatedly stating “no goals” in a 2023 advertisement for MassMutual, has allowed just four goals in three preliminary round games, posting a 1.34 goals-against average and a .946 save percentage.
Saros and Finland earned a bye into the quarterfinals, where they will face Switzerland on Wednesday (12:10 p.m. ET; Peacock, CBC Gem, SN). Switzerland advanced after defeating Italy 3-0 in a qualification game on Tuesday.
“He’s really been big. If not the best, he’s one of the best goalies in the world,” forward Mikael Granlund said. “I’ve known him for a long time, I know what he can do out there. He can win games by himself, so it’s great to have a guy like that in your net.”
The 30-year-aged hasn’t conceded a goal in his last 95 minutes and 21 seconds of Olympic play. Finland finished fourth in the preliminary round.
“He’s a great player for sure,” defenseman Miro Heiskanen said. “Every time you play in front of him you have confidence, and it’s great to have him here.”
Finland’s quarterfinal matchup follows a four-day break since their 11-0 victory over Italy on Saturday. Saros dismissed concerns about the extended rest.
“I don’t think it’s too long of a rest,” Saros said Monday. “We’ll take it and we’ll be ready to go once we get out there again.”
Saros also indicated that the identity of their opponent was not a significant factor in their preparation. “It doesn’t change much; you kind of try to prepare the best you can,” he said, “no matter who you are playing against.”
The MassMutual commercial, which featured Saros and teammate Ryan O’Reilly discussing financial planning, has become a recurring topic for the goaltender. “Back in the [United] States, I hear it quite a bit,” Saros said Monday. “So, whoever wrote those lines, they did a good job. At least people remember it.” When asked if he considers repeating the phrase during games, Saros responded, “Maybe I have to try that.”
Saros previously played a key role in a 2-1 season-opening win for the Nashville Predators against the Columbus Blue Jackets on October 9, 2025, making 38 saves. Ryan O’Reilly scored the go-ahead goal in that contest. He also helped the Predators stun the Colorado Avalanche in a shootout on December 9, 2025, with O’Reilly scoring the decisive goal. Saros made 39 saves in that game.
