New Director for Tours’ Studio Cinemas Following Leadership Change

Jérémie Monmarché assumed the directorship of the Cinémas Studio in Tours, France, in late January 2026, taking over from Romain Prybilski.

Monmarché, a long-time employee of the Studio cinemas since 2003, is well-known to the staff and patrons of the art and essay cinema located on the rue des Ursulines. He described himself as “stressed but very motivated” upon accepting the position, according to reporting from La Nouvelle République.

The change in leadership follows Prybilski’s appointment as director of the Louxor cinema in Paris. Prybilski had been at the helm of the Studio cinemas since September 2023.

The Cinémas Studio is a significant cultural institution in Tours, boasting seven screens and nearly 1,000 seats. This proves one of the largest association-run Art and Essay cinemas in Europe and houses the most extensive film documentation collection in the Centre-Val-de-Loire region. The cinema serves approximately 130 primary schools, twenty recreation centers, and various community groups annually.

Monmarché previously held the position of deputy director at the Cinémas Studio and coordinated the “École et maternelle au cinéma” program for the department of Indre-et-Loire. He will continue to oversee school screenings and coordinate film access for educational institutions. Manon Lory, the programmer and coordinator for young audiences and those aged 15-25, will continue to manage programming outside of school hours, including partnerships with local organizations like the Tours municipality for the Planète Satourne young audience festival and the Libr’Enfant bookstore.
