Joseph Kilcawley: Remembering a Midwest Radio Legend

Joseph (Joe) Kilcawley, formerly of Ballsbridge, Dublin, has died peacefully in Easkey, County Sligo, according to a death notice published by Midwest Radio on February 19th, 2026.

The notice, which appeared alongside announcements for several other individuals, offered no details regarding Kilcawley’s age or profession. Midwest Radio, a multimedia company operating 81 stations across nine US states, including Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky, first began broadcasting in 1958. The company describes itself as focused on serving local communities with news and entertainment.

Other death notices published on February 19th and 20th, 2026, included those of Paddy Joe Dolan, formerly of County Cavan; Olive Dowd, of County Roscommon; Caroline Gordon, of County Mayo; Francis Rutledge, of County Mayo; Ben McTernan, of County Mayo; Mary Brennan, formerly of County Mayo; Joachim McNulty, of County Mayo; Celine Campbell, of County Mayo; Michael Rabbitte, of County Galway; Breda O’Sullivan, formerly of County Mayo; Anne Roche, of County Roscommon; and Kathleen Burke, of County Mayo. A separate notice on February 17th announced the death of William (Liam) Maguire, of County Galway, and Barney Keogh, of County Mayo.

Midwest Radio also published notices for Brendan Leech, Kevin Finnerty, Margaret O’Hora, Patrick Joseph Greham, Eileen Moane, Angela Madden, Bridget Flynn, Mary Josephine Cawley, John Needham, Maureen Hastings, Mary McNamara, and Joanna (Joey) Lavelle between February 15th and 17th, 2026. Bridie Donnellan’s death was also announced on February 16th.

Funeral arrangements for Joachim McNulty, who died tragically on February 18th, 2026, were pending at the time of publication. Celine Campbell passed away peacefully at Swinford District Hospital on February 19th, 2026.
