Chris Mitchell Named CVC Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week | Kean Athletics

UNION, N.J. — Chris Mitchell, a standout player for the Kean University men’s volleyball team, was named the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) Player of the Week, the league announced on February 16, 2026.

The award recognizes Mitchell’s performance over the past week, during which Kean secured three victories. He recorded 40 kills, 11 digs and six blocks, accumulating an impressive 45.5 points. His averages included 5.06 points per set and 4.44 kills per set, alongside a .405 hitting percentage, according to the CVC announcement.

Mitchell, a native of Howell, New Jersey, has quickly grow a key player for the Cougars. His consistent offensive contributions and developing all-around game are central to the team’s success, as they build momentum during the season.

Kean’s recent form suggests a potential rise in the CVC standings. The team is scheduled to travel to Lancaster Bible on Tuesday for their next competition.

The CVC has recently recognized strong individual performances, with Will Sierer of Juniata College earning Player of the Week honors on February 9, 2026, for his contributions to Juniata’s three wins, including victories over ranked opponents. Mitchell’s selection highlights the competitive balance within the conference and the high level of play exhibited by its athletes.

In a January 31, 2026 match against Stevens, Mitchell recorded 12 kills, 4 blocks, and 1 dig. Kean lost the match 3-1, despite Mitchell’s performance.
