Endon High School’s robotics team, Finish-Tech, has secured a place in the national Lego robotics final after overcoming 21 schools in a regional competition held at Newcastle College in Staffordshire, according to a report from the BBC on December 24, 2025.
The team, comprised of four students, triumphed over competitors from as far afield as Bradford, demonstrating skill in building, coding, and logistical challenges. The competition, which took place on December 24, 2025, involved designing, creating, and programming a robot to complete a series of tasks.
This victory follows a similar success for Endon students in January 2025, when a team from Endon High School was crowned overall winner at a regional Lego tournament likewise held at Newcastle College. That competition, themed around ocean conservation, required participants to develop an innovation project to protect marine environments and code a robot, as reported by BBC Radio Stoke on January 29, 2025.
The current End-Tech team’s success was described as “nail-biting” by the BBC, highlighting the competitive nature of the event. The team will now proceed to the national final, the location of which was previously announced as Harrogate on May 3, according to a January 29, 2025 report.
The BBC reported on January 29, 2025, that pupils participating in the regional Lego tournament emphasized that the experience involved more than simply building models. One 11-year-old participant, Maya, stated, “It’s definitely not just about building models,” underscoring the importance of innovation and coding skills.
Endon has also been the focus of other recent news, including a reported threat to a local councillor at a village event on December 24, 2025, and the successful cultivation of a “bumper pumpkin crop” by an award-winning nursery on October 4, 2025. A blue plaque was also unveiled on September 30, 2025, honoring village poet and soldier Thomas Ernest Hulme.
