Portadown End Larne’s Unbeaten Run: Irish Premiership Results & Highlights

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Portadown delivered a significant upset in the Irish Premiership on Saturday, defeating league leaders Larne 2-1 at Shamrock Park and ending Larne’s 18-match unbeaten run in the league. The result has tightened the race at the top of the table, though Larne remain in first place.

Despite Portadown’s victory, Coleraine were unable to fully capitalise, drawing 1-1 with Carrick Rangers. This result limited Coleraine’s progress, leaving them five points behind Larne in the standings.

Elsewhere in the league, Glentoran secured a come-from-behind win against Ballymena United, maintaining their position in third place. Linfield also claimed a victory, overcoming bottom-placed Glenavon. Crusaders demonstrated resilience, fighting back to earn a draw in their home match against Bangor.

The Irish Premiership action continues on Tuesday with further league matches, including an Irish Cup round six game featuring Glentoran against Drumaness Mills.
