The Swiss insurance market is seeing continued consolidation, with AXA Versicherungen AG reaffirming its position as a leading player. The company, a subsidiary of the French AXA Group, currently holds approximately 18.2 percent of the Swiss damage insurance market, according to data from January 9, 2026.

AXA Switzerland offers a broad portfolio of insurance and financial products, encompassing personal, property, liability, legal protection, and life insurance, as well as health and occupational pension schemes. The company’s offerings are geared towards mobility, health, and entrepreneurship, serving both individuals and businesses.

The company’s history traces back to 1875 with the founding of Winterthur Versicherungen. In 2007, following its acquisition by AXA Group in 2006, the company rebranded as AXA Winterthur. The “Winterthur” designation was dropped in 2018, becoming simply AXA Switzerland.

With a workforce of 4,600 employees as of 2025, AXA Switzerland reported a business volume of 6.2 billion Swiss francs in 2024. Patrick Deflorin currently serves as CEO, although Antimo Perretta chairs the board of directors.

AXA Switzerland has recently focused on providing support to customers affected by the Crans-Montana fire, offering assistance with insurance claims and care management services. The company also issued a warning regarding phishing emails falsely representing AXA, directing customers to information on identifying and avoiding such scams.

The company is actively recruiting, promoting flexible working models and career development opportunities. AXA also provides support to Ukrainian refugees in Switzerland, offering free legal advice and access to Ukrainian and Russian-speaking representatives.

As of January 1, 2025, AXA Switzerland rejoined the Swiss Insurance Association.
